Ironing Board Cover

Look how creative this is.  Ellen flipped over her ironing board, made a template, cut out the fabric and then stitched her a new cover. My ironing board cover is really looking bad.  I think I am going to have to make one using my scraps.  Great idea Ellen!

Ric Rack

Good Morning!  I just thought I would post some pictures of a quilt I finally "finished."  I actually completed this quilt last summer and it was the second quilt I ever quilted on my new Long-arm machine.  Anyway, the pattern called for Jumbo Ric Rack and I finally found the color I wanted.  What do you think?  The top picture is the label I made for the back of the quilt.  Have a great weekend!

Is anyone reading?

Hello everyone!  Hope you enjoyed the weather today!  I was just curious to see if anyone is reading my blog or if I just write and upload pictures just because.  On the bottom right hand side of my blog is my Follower list.  Click Follow, complete the steps and I'll know if you are reading!  Here are a couple of pictures for you.  One is a picture of the beautiful placemats that Gigi made for our Space Needler Christmas party back in December and the other 2 are sneek peaks of the quilting on my "Houses".  If you click on the picture, it will enlarge and give you a better view. Have a great day!

The Rules of Chocolate

Good Morning!  I found this on the Stitchin Heaven newsletter and just had to post it!  Have a great day and enjoy the snow!

The Rules of Chocolate

  • If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
  • Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices & strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
  • The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the shop in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the car park.
  • Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite and you'll eat less.
  • A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn't that handy?
  • If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you?
  • If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.
  • Money talks. Chocolate sings.
  • Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.
  • If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top tights. An entire garment industry would be devastated.
Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. (Got that one done today already!! Woohoo!!)

It's on the frame!

I can't believe it, but I pinned it on yesterday.  This probably sounds really crazy, but since it is my quilt, I am going to try out some new borders - I'll probably do a different one on each side.  Lot's of echoing to do.  I can't wait to get it finished!  Have a great day!

Wanda's Quilt

Hello Everyoe!  What a gorgeous day we had today - just love this weather!  I was sewing in my little corner of my sewing room and the sun was shining through the window keeping me nice and cozy warm.  Such a great day!  So a quick story - before I bought my Gammill, I went to visit Wanda Rains up in Kingston to see her Gammill Statler in action.  Wanda has been doing this for almost 20 years now and what an inspiration she is.  I was chatting with her this weekend and she sent me a picture of a quilt she just pieced.  It is 113 x 113 and I just had to post it.  She said it took her several months to piece.  Great job Wanda!  Have  a great week everyone!

Blue Bird, Blue Bird out my window...

Good Evening!  I know a few of you have seen my little blue bird that I stitched a while back.  She is sitting on her little fabric eggs on top of my sewing table.  The pattern is by Fig Tree, but I enlarged it to fit the bigger nest that I had.  Take care, R

Pot of Flowers

Hello Everyone!  You just have to check this out!  My friend Ellen, the one who was born with a creative spoon in her mouth, has made the most beautiful wall hanging.  She took a class last year at Sisters by Bari J (http://barijonline.com/).  The result is below.  The picture does not show all of the free motion quilting she did on this but it is just stunning.  She actually invented the Grip & Stitch.  These little disks take free motion quilting on your sewing machine to a whole new level.  Use the disks to move your quilt with ease.  They have them for sale at Gathering Fabric in Woodinville if you are interested in purchasing a set.  Take care and have a great week.

Bloom Creek

Good Morning!  I was at Gathering Fabric in Woodinville yesterday and picked up a book called Bloom Creek quilts by Vicki Bellino.  Such a great book.  Her website is:  http://www.bloomcreek.com/.  Check it out - beautiful projects.  If you visit her blog, (http://bloomcreek.blogspot.com/) you will see a block that one of her friends had framed.  It is just gorgeous.  Seems like my sewing group is catching onto the framing.  I framed my Handmade wall hanging and framed another one for the Space Needler Christmas party.  Now I am just waiting on my friend Ellen to send over a framed quilt she just made.  It is just stunning!  I'll post it as soon as she sends it.  Have a great day!
