Saturday Sewing

Hi Everyone!  Two posts in one day - I must have alot of time on my hands.  My little one is still not feeling good after having her tonsils out almost 2 weeks ago.  So, needless to say we have been at home most of the day except for my escape to Costco.  Lots of Barbie movies again today.  I decided to finish an applique quilt I made over a year ago and it has been sitting in my closet waiting for me to quilt it.  I knew it would take me hours and I just never took the time out of my work schedule to work on it, so I decided to quilt it today.  I chose an allover design called Peacock Feathers.  Don't worry - you can start breathing again.  I know - an allover on an applique quilt that took me months to make.... BUT, you know what, I think it looks pretty darn good.  Who says you can't do an allover on an applique quilt?  Most of us never really use our applique quilts.  We just hang them on a quilt ladder or drape them across the sofa or on the foot of the guest bed.  I still have to do alot of embellishing on this one - buttons, ribbon and bows.  It will look super cool when it is finished.  I used 2 layers of warm and natural and cream thread.  I would love to hear your comments on if you think applique quilts should be custom quilted or if an allover is just fine.  I also managed to finish piecing another applique quilt.  Wonder how long this one will sit in my closet???

Take care,
Richla
