Good to be home...

Hi Everyone!  I can not believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve!  We made it home yesterday from Whistler.  Took us 7 hours to get back home - a long, long car ride.  My oldest Sonia turned 6 this past Friday.  6!  Where is the time going?!  All she wanted to do is go swimming, so at the resort where we stayed, they had an outdoor pool that they kept heated to 90 degrees.  That is not very warm when you are outside in the snow and the temps are low 20's.  She had a blast though.  We made it about an hour and then I made them go inside for a warm shower and some hot chocolate.  Quite the adventure!

Anyway, I'm working on laundry and getting ready for tomorrow.  I started glueing down the applique on the first block of my next quilt.  It is called Country Rose by Barb Adams/Alma Allen.  One of those projects that have been sitting in my stash for a couple of years.  I'm making this one because I specifically wanted to work on the scalloped border/binding.  Can't wait to see how it works out.

Also, here are a couple more quilts that I got done before I left town.  The first one is by Diane.  The final one in her series of 4 quilts.  On this one we used a design allover called Champagne with cotton batting.  The flannel back makes it feel so soft!  The second one is by Kathy.  We used a design allover called Heart Throb with my new Glide thread and 2 layers of cotton batting.  It feels wonderful!  I love how she pieced the back.  And the double layer of batting is so nice.  I tell you, it seems like the battings are just getting thinner and thinner these days.  Nothing I have found compares to the batting my Grandma used in her quilts.  I'm still searching though.  I know it doubles the batting cost, but it is worth it to use a double layer.  Nice work ladies!  Hope you all have a great evening!  Richla
