Glisten..

Good Morning!  It sure was hard getting back into a routine yesterday.  After 2 weeks of being very lazy - it was still hard.  However, I did manage to get a couple of quilts finished and 2 more loaded.  Yeah!  Before Christmas, I did quilt up one of my quilts with a thread called Glisten by Fil-Tec.  It is a metallic thread and I decided to try quilting an allover on my quilt which is very large.  Metallic thread is very picky and breaks easily. You have to reduce the tension so much but keep the thread from slipping out of the discs.  Plus, you have to slow the machine down to a crawl.  With that in mind, I started off.  I am happy to say that after the first few minutes of finding my groove, it quilted up beautifully.  It took double the time but it sure is sparkly!

I tried to get good pictures, but it just doesn't translate onto the film.  Plus, it is hanging behind one of my longarms, so it cast a shadow across the top.  So, if you have a quilt that needs some extra sparkle, try it out.  I will have to charge extra for the quilting since it took so long, but it is worth it in the end.  I used two layers of batting: Dream cotton and Dream wool.  The thread color is a light silver and the design is called Circus.  Have a great day!!!
