Devastating...

Good evening!  Last night after I finished my post, I went downstairs, took a hot bath, watched the news for a little bit and went to bed.  A short while later, my husband called me from Russia to tell me to get out of the house.  I thought he was pulling a prank on me since he gave me a hard time on the 911 call the night before.  However, he convinced me to look out my window.  In horror, I watched at least a dozen fire trucks trying to save the house next door to me.  It was a total loss.  Thank heavens our neighbors and friends were not home.  If you haven't done so in a while, check your smoke detectors and give them fresh batteries if you need to.  It was a long night..... and I'm sure going to be a long year for our friends to get their beautiful home rebuilt.  Here is the article on Komo 4 news:  http://www.komonews.com/news/local/181956281.html

I didn't get as much done today as I wanted, but I did finish up Ann's adorable owl quilts.  I believe these are for twins, but she made them a little different.  Amazing how fabric can change a quilt.  On the first one we used a design called Van gogh with a tan thread and cotton batting.  On the second one we used a design called Aspen leaves with a tan thread and cotton batting.  I gave the owl's a belly and did some veins in the leaves and some outlining.  Nice work Ann!  Hope you like the way they turned out.  Take care and let's pray no more alarms go off in our neighborhood for a long, long time.

  3. Thank goodness your family is safe, but so sorry to hear about your neighbors home!! How devistating at this time of the year.
The two OWL quilts are so cute, I have seen that pattern and have been very tempted. In fact the fat quarters that I won would be perfect for that quilt!! Darling pix of you and the girls by the way Happy Holidays!!
